*REMINDER* (02)
Our Ontolog Invited Speaker Session by Mr. James Bryce Clark, JD,
BSc., Director of Standards Development from OASIS, on "Practical
lurches towards semantic interoperability: standards mash-ups in
production and in development" is coming up tomorrow, i.e. Thursday,
13-March-2008, 1.5~2.0 hours, starting at 10:30am PDT / 1:30pm EDT /
17:30 UTC.
(Ref. World Clock -

) (03)
OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information
Standards), representing one of the most prominent standards community
of its kind (with more than 5,000 participants in 100 countries), is a
consortium that drives the development, convergence and adoption of
open standards for the global information society. Our invited
speaker, Jamie Clark, Director of Standards Development from OASIS,
will provide a report, from the open standards domain, on some of the
current battlefronts in the Knowledge Representation war to retrofit
meaning into electronic artifacts. He will provide us with a set of
pointers and indications of some virtuous activities; and will, in
particular, help encourage the semantic document interoperability
standards work that Professor Dogac alluded to at last week's session.
... Anyone interested in the topic, especially those who are now
working with XML standards and their implementations, and would like
to see how semantics will come into play, should come join us at the
session. (04)
*RSVP* by e-mailing <peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> off-line if you are planning
to attend and haven't already responded. (05)
As usual, this session is free and open; so feel free to pass this
invitation along to others who may also be interested. We look forward
to having you at the session. Please refer to agenda and call-in
details on the session page, whose link appears at the top of this
message. (06)
Regards. =ppy (07)
