I am shocked at the news of George's passing, and would like to
express my condolences to George's family and loved ones. (01)
I first met George around the 2003/2004 timeframe, when he was still
at GSA. He is one person in our community that I hold very high
respect for - in his work, creativity, convictions and
professionalism. (02)
We, George Thomas, Jesse Wang and I , had the distinct opportunity to
co-chair a virtual session on "Implementing 'Big Open Data' in
government through Open Collaboration - case examples and
possibilities" about two years ago at the Ontolog Forum. And, that has
been a gratifying experience! ... Anyone interested should check out

we can still hear George there, right at the beginning! (03)
George will be sorely missed by his colleagues and the community at
large. His work, and the example he has set, will continue to inspire
