We take as an input IUGS recommendations and British Geological Survey reports to make step forward to OWL ontology.

I'm sure that standardization for any field is important.  But I'm
surprised that there isn't already a standardization of rock types
in some branch of geology.

What professional groups and/or standards organizations are responsible
for standards in this field?  Any kind of standardization should be
coordinated with them.
