Thank you, Alex. (01)
Since there hasn't been another post about this "Earth Science
Ontology Dialog" (dubbed: "EarthScienceOntolog") mini-series that has
just kicked off, allow me to provide a bit of context here ... (02)
The Earth Science Ontolog mini-series is designed to explore the
current status and application of multi-level ontologies towards
developing a semantically enabled cyberinfrastructure for the Earth
Science Community. In addition, one key mission of the mini-series is
to bring together members of both communities (Earth Science and
ontology/semantics) into a meaningful dialog. This mini-series of
events are co-organized/supported by members of the EarthCube,
Ontolog, SOCoP and IAOA communities.
See details on the mini-series homepage at:

We had a very successful kick-off at the Thu 2012.08.23 virtual panel
session. Kudos to the session co-chairs, the panelists, entire
organizing committee, and everyone who participated at that session. I
will really be looking forward to the four upcoming sessions in the
series. (04)
The briefings at that first session were brilliant, and we had some
enthusiastic exchange both in the in-session chat and the ensuing open
discussion. The full proceedings (abstract, agenda, slides, in-session
chat-transcript, audio recording, ...) are now available online - see:

please look under the "Archives" section. (05)
