NASA Marshall Space Flight Center has a User Group concerned with Geospatial Ontologies. Kindly also write to Dr. Rob Raskin of JPL who has spoken at Ontolog Forum and he can guide you. I would guide you to Goddard Data Active Archive Centers for Earth Science data (Aura satellites for weather) that would provide you enormous datasets, although I do not know if Ontologies are developed around them.
