We have an exciting job opportunity at the University of Pennsylvania School
of Medicine for an expert Java developer with additional experience in
Protege, open information extraction, and OpenIE toolkits.  The position is
funded by the National Library of Medicine and is described in detail below.    (013)

/Duties /
This individual will be the primary system developer for a new software tool
for mining text from conversations on medically related online discussion
boards. The programmer analyst will work with a diverse team of
investigators and be responsible for the analysis, design, implementation,
and validation of this tool. Included in these tasks are ontology
development and implementation into the software tool, serving as the
primary system developer, and ensuring that the software development and
implementation phases of the project stay on schedule. 
Note: This is a full-time, two-year position.    (017)

/Qualifications /
Bachelor's degree in computer or information science or related field and a
minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of
education and experience is required. Master's degree plus 1 to 2 yrs
preferred. Post-doctoral applicants are encouraged to apply.  Experience and
expertise in Java software development and re-engineering. In depth
knowledge of text mining methods. Experience with Protege, open information
extraction and Open IE toolkits and medical terminology are hotly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal, organization and project management skills Ability
to work independently and as a team member with academically diverse
individuals and adhere to timelines Demonstrated initiative and willingness
