Greetings!

You and your colleagues are invited to Collaborative Expedition Workshop #79, "The Science of Science Policy" on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the National Science Foundation. This no fee, one day public workshop will explore conditions conducive to emergence of a mature, 21st century approach to science and innovation policy. A primary goal of the workshop is to open up dialogue and receive feedback around the November 2008 document, "The Science of Science Policy: A Federal Research Roadmap" developed by the Interagency Task Group of the National Science and Technology Council's Subcommittee on Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences.

It is likely that how we design our physical and virtual knowledge sharing environments (including scientific knowledge that will influence policy-making and innovation) will play a pivotal role in the continued vitality and creativity of our 21st century democracy. The workshop will open up dialogue to facilitate "bootstrapping" among multiple communities and institutions committed to advancing civic design in the public realm and leveraging engagement opportunities associated with Web 2.0.  Workshop participants are encouraged to bring a laptop.  Participants who are interested to comment on the Roadmap prior to the workshop can contact Julia Lane at jlane@xxxxxxx and request a log-in account at the Science of Science Policy site at http://scienceofsciencepolicy.net

RSVP: You will need to pre-register for this workshop by sending an email to Joan Cole at cole@xxxxxxxxxx  Please indicate whether you plan to attend in person or remotely via teleconference and web collaboration.

WHEN: Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, 9:00am - 3:30pm
