Hi all,

Recently i came across the following, described as characteristics of a software,
   1) Developed or engineered
   2) not manufactured
   3) doesn't wear out

Few questions that i have been pondering on

What does it mean to call something a "characteristic" ?

It sounds rather like: a property which the entity must, necessarily, have in order to be classified in the way described. So if something wears out, then it cannot possibly be software. In OntoClean this is called, if I remember correctly, a 'rigid' property.

And can you give any pointers on automating this process ?

What 'process' are you referring to?
