We had, on Thursday 18-Oct-2007, a good size participation in the
wonderful session of the 11th episode of the Ontolog series
(previously, "mini-series") on "Database and Ontology" championed
by Dr. Matthew West (Shell International Petroleum
Company). Ontolog co-conveners, Dr. Leo Obrst and Mr. Kurt
Conrad were at hand to open and run the session respectively.
Dr. Melliyal Annamalai (colleague of Alan's and one of our
speakers from the 28-Jun-2007 Oracle presentation) introduced our
speaker, Dr. Zhe (Alan) Wu, who presented his talk entitled: "A
Scalable RDBMS-Based Inference Engine for RDFS/OWL." (01)
Thank you, Dr. Alan Wu for your wonderful presentation and for
sharing your insight with the community. Appreciations to Dr.
Annamalai, Dr. Obrst, Mr. Conrad, and of course, Dr. West for
bringing this very informative session/series to us. (02)
Proceedings of the session are captured on our wiki page, at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2007_10_18 (03)
In particular, full audio recording of the session, as well as
the podcast of it, is now available - see:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2007_10_18#nid14HT (04)
... Once again, let us thank our colleagues at Oracle for their
wonderful work that is making a significant contribution towards
bringing ontology and semantic technologies into the mainstream.
Dr. Alan Wu's talk that he just gave, is adding yet another piece
to the valuable body of knowledge on ontology and ontological
engineering that our community is building together. Thank you! (05)
Best regards. =ppy (06)
P.S. We are just about ready to announce an excited NASA-Ontolog
mini-series. Watch out for that on our [ontolog-invitation] list
and for that and other upcoming Ontolog events that may be of
interest. (07)
