Hi Everyone, (01)
I've been very busy lately, and I know I overlooked at least one
early-mid-september publication announcement about the second part of
a series of articles on Ontology Management for Federal Agencies that
I co-authored,
http://www.dmreview.com/article_sub.cfm?articleID=1036701 (02)
so, I might very well have missed the September 15 RFI announcement
referenced in the first of the two articles I am drawing attention to
this morning: (03)
GSA, OMB seek input on info sharing
http://www.fcw.com/article91035-10-06-05-Web&newsletter%3Dyes (04)
Since the deadline for responses to this RFI is October 21, 2005, it
seems unlikely that we could mount an effort to respond to this,
except, of course, unless someone can take the lead and put in some
extraordinary effort to put such a response together. Unfortunately,
while almost everything I am doing fits into a response I think we
ought to make if we can, I don't have the time to devote to it myself. (05)
However, I thought I should bring it up. I will let it simmer on my
own back burner, especially considering the amount of information on
this topic contained in the ontology management articles referenced
in my first paragraph. (06)
Brand just posted an announcement to the health-ont list that I
forwarded to this list about his SICOP support for the DRM, as part
of the GCN Storage to Knowledge Conference
http://www.gcnconferences.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Custom.Content&MenuID=1015 (07)
Although his SICOP Pilot presentation is about as
information-sharing-specific as such efforts can be, I know he also
doesn't have the time to put together an ontolog-forum response to
the RFI, but he also has significant information relative to the
topic. (08)
So, if another one of our colleagues could collect, coordinate and
put together such a response, I think it would be in our interest. (09)
Secondarily, I posted a message to the health-ont list about the
recent decision by Dr. Brailer's office to award three contracts to
public/private groups to support development and adoption of Health
IT standards, and that is related to the topic of our second panel
discussion on Healthcare Informatics Landscape, I want to draw this
group's attention to two articles published today on that specific
development. (010)
HHS picks three for health IT effort

US Awards Contracts to Spur Development and Use of Interoperable and
Secure Health IT
