Please let me say congratulations to Mark. The highest degree of experience, knowledge and excitement that Mark brings to this impressive opportunity, is a landmark for medical informatics in the development of the Nationwide Health Information System (NHIN).
I know developing semantic interoperability is essential for health data and information to be used beneficially across all sectors of the economy. In addition, I plan to work closely with this community to help coordinate a pilot project for the development of semantic interoperabilty in healthcare through seeking the support of Dr. Brailer's office. Mark's ability to provide key leadership there is outstanding for reaching our goals.
Again, congratulations on this honor, Mark.

Yes, we have an opportunity to write a
compelling Nomination Letter that makes the case for your leadership for
pursuing semantic integration issues in this Nationwide Information
Hopefully we can enlist the entire
Community’s support in drafting a compelling Nomination Letter to Dr.
Brailer’s office shortly after July 5th.

Thank you all for thinking of me and for
your support. I will certainly carry the philosophy and mission of the Ontolog
community to this committee, assuming that Dr. Brailer's office determines that
they are seeking someone like me for the panel. Issues of semantic integration
are critical to creating the National Health Information Infrastructure; I
certainly hope that the nation can provide the leadership and the incentives to
tackle this problem the "right" way.
