Subject: [protege-owl] Business Process Management Ontology (BPMO) Release
Candidate 1 available    (05)

Jenz & Partner makes available the first release candidate of the
Business Process Management Ontology (BPMO). The primary goal of the
BPMO is to provide a stable platform for the semantically rich
definition of business processes.    (06)

The BPMO provides a "holistic view" of business process management. It
supports and integrates open standards, such as:
- Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN), Version 1.0 (May, 2004)
- Universal Business Language (UBL), Version 1.0, Committee Draft (May,
2004).    (07)

Several standards organizations have produced domain specifications.
However, there is no "super standards organization" that would align
specifications to create a coherent whole. The BPMO is a move towards
providing that coherent whole.    (08)

In addition, a BPMO Tab Plugin will become available soon. It will
enable business analysts to generate executable process definitions in
some target process definition language. In version 1, it will support
the generation of XPDL (XML Process Definition Language) process
definitions.    (09)

The BPMO requires Protégé version 2.1 or higher and the OWL plugin.    (010)

If you are interested in having a look at the BPMO release candidate and
providing feedback, please send me an email.    (011)

Regards
Dieter Jenz
