We have reconfigured the TightVNC real-time screen/application sharing
tool so that people who are behind corporate firewalls should now also
be able to participate. I would appreciate help in testing this out with
a few more people (who are behind corporate firewalls.) (01)
1. Therefore, at today's [ontolog]-UBL-Ontology conference call, let's
try to test it out, if we can. Instead of the usual
(http://vnc3.cim3.net:5800/), please use the following credentials for
VNC access: (02)
VNC session url: http://vnc2.cim3.net:5800/ (from your java-enabled
browser)
view-only password: "ontolog" (without the " ")
view-and-control pw: "ontology" (03)
2. If you cannot get in through the normal process above due to the fact
that you are behind firewalls, please do the following: (04)
(a) download and install TightVNC v1.2.8 (or the latest version) --
which is available at http://www.tightvnc.com/download.html (05)
(b) install that on your machine. (06)
(c) Run the TightVNC viewer [on Windows machines, I would pick the
"TightVNC viewer (Fast Compression)" utility] (07)
(d) On the VNC server dialog box, enter: "vnc2.cim3.net::80" (without
the " "; note two colons) (08)
(e) On the prompt for the password, enter "ontolog" (or "ontology" if
you will be running the meeting or taking real-time minutes.) (09)
3. I'd appreciate feedback on how the above worked out. (010)
