Sean,
You are probably right.
I'm just trying to preempt any IPR issues that may come back to haunt us. ... Our situation could be analogous to "open source software development" ... that fact that there hasn't been adequate statutes or cases in that arena does, in no way, infer that there is no problem (in fact ... we all know that there are plenty of issues!)
We expect the Ontolog open community process to be creating new knowledge at many different levels ... I just want to make sure we do have an adequate collaborative work environment to support that.
Thanks & regards. =ppy
P.S. we are fine as it it ... after our recent exchange of written understanding. I was just suggesting that it would be cleaner if we totally did away with the 'warning' messages, footnote and what not! =ppy
P.P.S. by the way, you might consider subscribing to something like a "gmail (google)", "yahoo" or "hotmail" type free webmail account. In fact, one project group at Ontolog is trying to start using google shared documents and spreadsheets to do collaborative work ... therefore, more incentive to look into them. =ppy

Sean,
Appreciate your making the effort to clarify the
situation.
As long as you and your corporate lawyers are cognizant of,
and accept the fact that the Ontolog IPR policy takes precedence here, as far
as contributions to the open community (and captured into this open
collaborative work environment) is concerned, then we're all fine. That would
be the assumption.
... that said, using an alternate e-mail address,
and doing away with all the extraneous IPR-related statements, still seems to
me to be a cleaner solution. Your call, of course.
Thanks &
regards. =ppy --

I've added the above to my
replies - I hope this is satisfactory

Sean,
Thank you for the contribution to the
[ontolog-forum] list.
I need you help on your "warning" and
"confidentiality footnote" (I assume they were generated by your corporate
system) ...
We expect members to just post information they are
ready to share with the rest of the open community. Note, in particular,
that Ontolog is an 'open' forum with collaboration being a main thrust.
Our IPR policy (see: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?WikiHomePage#nid32
)
applies to all participation in Ontolog activities.
Therefore,
please suppress them before you post. ... Some members have found it
easier to just subscribe with an alternate e-mail address that is operated
outside of their institutional firewalls. You might consider that too.
Thanks & regards. =ppy --
