Eighty seventh meeting of the IAOA Executive Council (EC)
Virtual Meeting of 19 Sep 2013    (07)

Attendees:
Stefano Borgo
Pawel Garbacz (invited)
Michael Gruninger (Chair)
Oliver Kutz
Frank Loebe
Leo Obrst
Laure Vieu    (08)

The EC verified the status of the current EC election procedure. There are 8
regular candidates who have completed all necessary requirements. The
software for the electronic vote is under preparation and will be tested
soon. The vote can be cast from Sep 23 to Sep 30, 2013.    (09)

It is anticipated that the FOMI workshop in 2014 will be co-located with
FOIS. Soon the IAOA President will send invitations to candidates to chair
the event.    (010)

The FOIS 2014 conference will feature three invited speakers roughly
covering the areas of philosophy, computer science, cognitive science,
linguistics and logic. The FOIS chairs will start to send out the
invitations to selected candidates.    (011)

The 2014 World Congress on the Square of Opposition [1] is granted the
status of an IAOA Supported Event. In this context, the EC also discussed
the opportunity to reserve funds for students attending events that are not
officially related to IAOA. This discussion remains to be continued.    (012)

The IAOA SIG on Design Semantics [2,3] is organizing its first general
meeting and applies for IAOA funds, preferably as an IAOA co-organized
event. A budget has not yet been submitted to the EC and is requested from
the organizers. A decision is postponed to October 2013.    (013)

There is an informal proposal to form a Semantic Web Applied Ontology SIG
aiming to fill the gap between the Semantic Web community and the IAOA and
Ontolog communities. Some people have shown interest in this initiative. The
issue will be further considered and feedback from members will be sought.    (014)
