Hi Bob ~ quick thoughts ~ My diagram will be more about classifications, and mapping between UniFormat>OCCS>MF2004 classes to suit various tasks. This may not count as semantics but will make a rough sketch in OmniGraffle. In general, a merging or overview is all that I mean to show.
2) Primary Problem
to Resolve (New topic, but typically a Problem Statement helps to focus
attention. Your thoughts??)
SAMPLE PROBLEM: Looking at 10 theoretical building types to solve a series of theoretical issues ***which should also be narrowed down into set of questions*** to make precise retrievals and perform further analysis on a task by task, building by building, and region by region, jurisdiction by jurisdiction basis. Not only the contract documents and whether or not the final project delivery did comply with the project requirements, longer term, with more documentation including Cx and related sustainable design submittals, subsequent tracking over time, then ultimately, how or what is accessed by the local jurisdictions like police and fire departments, environmental boards, national grass roots efforts, global efforts?
UniFormat>OCCS>MF2004 all talk about the same subjects in different ways. A useful problem to resolve is being able to answer questions within the living documents by automatically translating from UniFormat (GSA, Owner, BIMstorm) to MF2004 (contract and construction documents) to OCCS (classification of the entire built environment) ~ based on what the question is.
3) Purpose ( ~
Goals and Objectives) Do we need to make any distinctions between Purpose
and (G-O)?
Purpose, create the map. Goals, use the maps and create a framework for repeatable QA structures.
4) Performance
Success Indicators: As we complete are Mission,
our performance itself should be measured and used to maintain progress or
change goals/expectations. I separated this into Strategic and
Operational Indicators. Toby's earlier material was inspiring. Must also be tested against actual buildings, systems, and performance. We could send the criteria to ASHRAE, CSI, and buildingSMART to see if the critical points are being covered.
5) Use Cases
Distilled from earlier discussions. These Use Cases can evolve into a family of
Projects and tasks in building the Framework.
I wonder who would like to apply these results?
The document does not include 3 important
areas that deserve attention on the BSP Home Page. For example?
Going Forward: We have set WEDNESDAY, July
9th, as a change deadline. At least two ways to proceed:
Either: Edit at will, just remember to save
often (others may also be trying to edit)
And/Or: please use this message
thread to expand on needed changes. I'll expand on the wiki but would sincerely appreciate narrowing down the problem above to ontology only so I can get this Excel file cleaner and more populated. Also, there are 3 architects at WDG who are going to look at the 10 types provided to give some initial impressions on unusual and typical code compliance issues, probable construction methods etc. We don't do costs but can narrow the types provided into use groups and construction types.
Happy Independence Day

Thanks Bob, will look for
the updates and a call to catch up btw Wed and Fri makes sense.

Hi Deborah,
What has to be done this week….
Michelle is (or has already) cleared up the BSP home page;
Bob is synthesizing that materials around the Mission and the Charter (with help from
Finith and Mike).
Depending on progress and loose ends, we might have a
conference call sometime between Wednesday and next Friday (July 11th).
All presenters should have their PPT uploaded by Friday (? My
recollections)
The outlying issues TBD by the deadline posted on the BSP
home page.
Cheers,
Bob
Has anything been resolved about the draft vs charter
- what needs to be done this week prior to the kick off to get the scope
settled and everyone on the same page? What are the outlying issues?

Peter,

The meeting on June 30th, has a big a focus on planning.
Thus it is a big aid to have the capability to real-time share
and create process maps, mind maps, project planning charts...
... in whatever format is effective for planning, this can be done in
as a Webinar.
Finith is the volunteer chair for this meeting and I am the volunteer
note taker.
If someone else hasn't already done so, I'll have all the
conference call (webinar) connection data, agenda, etc... in
the regular format at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?BuildingServicePerformance/ConferenceCall_2008_06_30,
however the details of the sub-levels of the agenda will be viewable
pre-meeting through the open links to the images provided by Finith,
(which are already available via a link on the main BSP page).
Notes, may be captured realtime in a mindmap or may be realtime
on the wiki page. That is TBD. Notes WILL be available in
wiki text with html links to open material formats on the wiki page,
after the call for all community members to access, edit and discuss.
RATIONAL:
As to how we got to trying a Webinar approach as a trial format for
this meeting and may have utilized variety of tools and file types that
are not all open... ... but will have a open view before the kickoff meeting.
I and others reviewed some of the open tools, tried them with a bit of
what BSP would need and could briefly show the results of those tools.
However, the outcome, from MY set of limited trials, is that we still need
a better open solution and should continue to seek suggestions.
Therefore, until we have a common open tool, in order to not slow
the planning process in the meantime, we are each using whatever tool
or file format we are currently comfortable with to show what we would
like to see in the resulting BSP, Project Team adopted, plan.
The results of the planning session, i.e. the proposed plan, WILL be
available in a format open to all. If that format requires anything
beyond
the standard browser based wiki interface, a version of the plan will be
put in plain text with only standard wiki markup.
Best regards,
Michelle
