Good thinking, Michelle ... thank you (to you and the rest of the BSP
conveners).    (01)

Some thoughts relating to community membership ... etc.:    (02)

(a) for those who are unaware, the convention on the OntologWiki is that    (03)

  * Ontolog members are listed with their WikiWord names (and hence
clickable to their namesake pages.)
  * non-ontolog members are listed with their names (non-WikiWord
formatted, say, with a space between their firstname and lastname) and
then their affiliation in parenthesis (I'd usually include country
too, if it is non-US.)
** note that I would usually add anyone who has RSVP'd to any
Ontolog event to the [ontolog-invitation] (Ontolog community event
announcements) list, so that they are kept informed of future events
(unless they opt out, by emailing back to us or unsubscribe
themselves, instructions for which is at the footnote of every
"invitation they receive). This is a very low traffic list. See:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?VirtualSpeakerSessionTips#nid1664
** as such, [ontolog-invitation] list subscribers are not
necessary Ontolog community members. What tells an Ontolog member
apart (vs. an non-member) is whether or not he/she is subscribed to
the [ontolog-forum] list.
** to participate in Ontolog projects (e.g. BSP,
OntologTaxoThesaurus, ...etc.) one needs to be an Ontolog member
first.
** that said, Ontolog membership is NOT a prerequisite to
participating in programs for which Ontolog is a co-organizers or
collaborator -- such as OntologySummit (a joint NIST-Ontolog-NCOR
iniative), OKMDS (a joint NASA-Ontolog-KMWG min-series), or even OOR
(an ontology community effort being incubated at the Ontolog
collabortive work environment.)    (04)

(b) One more thought for the kick-off presenation: please make sure we
mention that "unless individuals opt out of it, we will add everyone
who RSVP'd (participating or sending in their regrets) to the mailing
lists -- i.e. [bsp-forum] (BSP community discussion),
[ontolog-invitation] (Ontolog community event announcements) and
[ontolog-forum] (community members general discussion) lists.    (05)

Thanks & regards. =ppy

BSP Folks,    (08)

We're getting positive RSVPs for attending the Kickoff.    (09)

If the RSVP came to me as a direct response from the invitation
notice, I am adding the person to the "Expected Attendee"
list on the Kickoff wiki page and sending a standard response.    (010)

If the RSVP was forwarded to me or the group, from one of you
or from another, I am adding the requesting person to the
"Expected Attendee" list, sending a standard response and
adding the forwarding person in the cc field of the response.
(This is so you know it was handled.)    (011)

If, rather than as I stated above, you would like to be copied
on all responses or no responses regardless of the source of
the requester, please let me know.    (012)

If you wish to add the name or name/affiliation to the
wiki page yourself of someone who sent an RSVP to you,
feel free to do so. It is good to then send an acknowledgment
response. You may wish to use or tweak the response
message I concocted or to devise a message of
your own. (A copy of the message I use is included below.)    (013)

Note you can always go to the wiki page to see who has been
added under Expected and Regrets.
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?BuildingServicePerformance/ConferenceCall_2008_07_14    (014)

Also, as a BSP convener, you may be contacted about the project so
please make certain there is a contact method listed for you
on your namesake page (example: "emailaddress AT provider DOT
extension" - "michellearaymond AT gmail DOT com" can be a good
way to provide a human with the information needed to email you
without releasing you email to every Spyder or Bot on the web.)    (015)

Best regards,    (016)

Michelle    (017)

P.S. I haven't yet received a "Regret" as an RSVP, but would
handle it in a similar manner.    (018)
