Thanks Deborah- Fascinating statement!

I posted your  project’s “Point” on today’s Conference Wiki at http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?BuildingServicePerformance/ConferenceCall_2008_05_09

Looking forward to a productive first meeting.

Cheers,

Subject: [bsp-forum] Updated base

Table attached has integrated some of the energy codes from energy dictionary provided by Dave Conover at ICC.
Dark Gray bands - were in the base already and need to stay included
Light Gray bands - were in the actual firestation provided by Finith Jergenson at Design Atlantic, some may merge up or down into existing
Trying to keep under 250 rows maximum

When sample images of a misc BIMstorm buildings are received from Kimon Onuma at OPS, will confer with a small team here at WDG about what these buildings might be made of and what codes need to be accommodated.

>From there, my plan is to make a fact sheet for each building showing a thumbnail of the building elements and codes matrix along with assumptions (slab on grade, brick, curtainwall) and a short list of service performance requirements.

The point is to develop a compact data structure in simple excel able to withstand a barrage of questions from local jurisdictions and emergency responders to direct pathways to answers about the building from the building specifications and applicable codes. Dave Conover at ICC has observed "From the BSP project it seems when describing the purpose of a facility that one would want to tie that to the building use group, space names  and uses/users, etc. that come from the codes.   For instance "institutional facility (group I-1) used as an assisted living facility for adults needing special medical care"  or " high hazard (group H-2) for storage of combustible dusts or associated with manufacturing where combustible dusts will be produced"
