[socop-forum] Prospectus for Spatial Ontology Community of Practice Work

The Spatial Ontology Community of Practice (SOCoP) is hosting its 6th annual workshop on Spatial Semantics and Ontologies. This will take place at the NSF facility Nov 18-19 on Wilson Blvd, Ballston VA. The free workshop will be held M-T Nov. 18-19 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. 


This is a free, hands on workshop with attendance limited to 40 people.  The workshop will have an introductory session Monday morning covering some meeting history, vision, strategy & methods with remaining time organizing around 4 Work Groups made up of domain experts, group facilitators and people with semantic/ontological experience. Groups have been formed to continue prior discussions on:

1.    terrain and surface network concepts (from GeoVoCampDC2012),  

2.    water quality, environmental or pollution sites (CUAHSI has expressed an interest in participating and may provide a use case to work on),

3.    ontology design patterns for Green Building Architecture which would serve as a follow on to the recent Sustainable Data Community Forum workshop.

4.    ontology patterns to help semantic annotation of maps.
