Those were rather small and hard to read. I increased the thickness of the white in the lattice, and made the text of the bottom larger as well.

John, I was mistaken, Inkscape only exports to PNG, but I can provide the SVG files if anyone wants them.

Being pictorial is not bad, but I have two concerns:

 1. The detail would be lost for any version that is
    small enough to be used as an icon.

 2. I doubt that you took your own satellite photos of
    the earth.  What about the copyright of that image?
