Mike and all,    (01)

I am sorry I missed the Friday conference call. This looks very good - would
be a very good way to raise awareness of the initiative.    (02)

Best regards,
Denise    (03)

Subject: [oor-forum] draft SemTech submission    (04)

On Friday's telecon we discussed an OOR submission to the upcoming 2010
Semantic Technology Conference [1]. Below is a draft for feedback.
Submissions are due tomorrow.    (05)

Based on attendance plans and interests, my current plan is to list the
presenters as: Peter Yim, Mike Dean, Todd Schneider.    (06)

Thanks!    (07)

Title of Presentation:    (010)

Finding a Good Ontology: The Open Ontology Repository Initiative    (011)

Brief description of the objective and/or content of the presentation
(30 words max):    (012)

Increase awareness of the Open Ontology Repository Initiative, to
attract users and developers.    (013)

Description/Abstract of Presentation:*
(This is how your session will be described in the conference brochure and web \
site. Ideal format is approximately 150 words, plus 5-6 bullet points)    (014)

Can you find a good ontology to use or extend for your application?    (015)

Building on previous registry and repository efforts, the Open
Ontology Repository Initiative is a community effort developing open
source software for finding, using, and maintaining open source
and other ontologies.    (016)

The initial implementation of OOR is based on BioPortal, which is used
to access and share ontologies that are actively used in biomedical
communities and currently supports OWL, OBO, and Protege ontologies,
LexGrid and RRF vocabularies, and ontology mapping. The
infrastructure is domain-independent and being extended in various
directions.    (017)

This presentation will include    (018)

a demonstration of the current public OOR instance    (019)

  OOR requirements    (020)

on-going and planned development efforts (Common Logic support,
  federation, gatekeeping, etc.)    (021)

details on how you can become involved    (022)

Additional Information about Presentation (anything else you consider
pertinent to our consideration of your proposal, including additional
reasons why your presentation will be beneficial to the audience):    (023)

OOR is under active development by several academic and commercial
organizations. We currently have a public "sandbox" installation
available at oor-01f.cim3.net and several federated private
installations, and expect to have a populated public production
installation by June. BioPortal represents an example of a
community-specific OOR instance.    (024)

Please specify any additional Audio Visual Equipment you will require
for your presentation (note that one wireless lavaliere microphone,
data projector, screen and flip chart will be provided as standard
equipment, so just list ADDITIONAL equipment):    (025)

Internet connection for OOR demo    (026)

Yes, I have all approval already    (027)

Presentation Type:    (028)

Conference Session - Full 60 min. or Half 30 min.    (029)

Level of Audience/Experience the Presentation is Aimed At:    (030)

Technical - Intermediate    (031)

Track:    (032)

Ontology Design and Engineering    (033)

Have you presented this before?    (034)

No. The presenters and others have given presentations on OOR
to smaller groups, including a poster and demo presentation at ISWC
2009, but not in this form or reflecting the current evolution of the
system. Ontology Summit 2008 developed the initial requirements for OOR.    (035)

Treatment:    (036)

How-To
Toools/Technology
Pragmatic Experience    (037)

Keywords:    (038)

Open Source, Ontology, Repository, Registry    (039)
