As always, discussions so far have been both fascinating and far-reaching.
In an effort to help focus the discussion, I hope that we can move from using
rather general examples (e.g. from domains such as physics) to more concrete
examples using specific ontologies, particularly those which are being used in
practice. (01)
When referring to examples to illustrate ideas related to ontology evaluation,
people are encouraged to use ontologies in one of the Open Ontology Repository
instances --
OntoHub (ontobub.oor.net) if it is axiomatized in OWL or RDF,
COLORE (colore.oor.net) if it is axiomatized in full first-order logic,
BioPortal (bioportal.bioontology.org) if it is being used in biomedical domains. (02)
If the ontologies used in examples are not found in any repository, please
upload them so that they can be used by other people to illustrate properties
of ontologies that are relevant to ontology evaluations, and also be used to
compare techniques for evaluating ontologies. (03)
For extrinsic aspects of ontology evaluation, in which the ontology is
evaluated with respect to an application, people are encouraged to use the
Ontology Application Framework from Ontology Summit 2011:
