The UoM_Ontology_Standard working group is on the final lag in
advancing their work to the OASIS so that this work will be done under
the auspices of a formal SDO (standards development organization).
Coming up this Thursday (7-Jan-2010) will be an open community event
when we will be making a progress review in preparation for the
startup of the QUOMOS Technical Committee. The OASIS QUOMOS TC will be
having its "First Meeting" on Thursday 21-Jan-2010. This session will
provide the opportunity for anyone who wants to know (more) about the
QUOMOS TC, and how to participate in this important standards
development work. (03)
Mr. Howard Mason (BAE; ISO), convener of the OASIS QUOMOS TC, will be
chairing the session. Dr. Charles Ehrlich (NIST) will be joining us at
the session to share his personal perspectives and some historical
context on the International Vocabulary of Metrology (VIM). Our panel
will also include some of our working group experts who have been and
will be contributing to the drafting of the future Quantities and
Units of Measure Ontology Standard (QUOMOS). Some outstanding
technical issues will be discussed at the session too. As usual, there
will be a segment for Q&A and open discussion. (04)
