We had a very productive Ontolog community event planning session
yesterday, THANKS to those individuals who took the time to provide
valuable inputs, refine ideas and build consensus on the kind of
activities we should pursue for the rest of this year. (02)

In particular ... (04)
* there is a consensus that we should take a break for the month of
August ... therefore, it's been decided that no community events will
be scheduled during the Thursdays (i.e. the regular Ontolog event
slots) of August-2013. Champions will be taking that time to stage the
events that they will roll out after the summer. (05)
* Various events that got scheduled include
** Thu 2013.06.20 - Ontolog Invited Speaker - Dr. Benjamin Grosof on "Rulelog"
** Thu 2013.06.27 - Ontolog Invited Speaker - Dr. Vinay Chaudhri on "KB_Bio_101"
** Thu 2013.07.11 or 18 - a session on "Ontology-based Standards"
** Thu 2013.07.25 - (possibly) a planning session (see [1] below)
** Thu 2013.09.19 - "Brainstorm session on The Next Ontology Summit
Theme" (scheduled during our 5/23 summit postmortem session)
** Thu 2013.10.03 - Joint IAOA-ONTOLOG session (06)
* there is substantial interest on the following topics ... (dates to
be confirmed)
** updates on projects like OntoIOp, CommonLogic_v2, QUOMOS
** continuation of the "Ontology of Ontology Evaluation" and OntologPSMW work
** ontology visualization - Grailog, SysML[1]
** reasoners / reasoning
** LOD (including LODLAM, and LD) / Reasoning over LOD (07)
* there is huge interest in pursuing a mini-series that steps through:
rules / reasoning / logic programming / ontology-driven applications
... it was suggested that a few folks, including LeoObrst /
HensonGraves / HaroldBoley / BenjaminGrosof / MikeDean and anyone else
interested should confer again to work out the next level of

[1] ... Question: we said we would probably need another planning
session to work up the details these (two) initiatives. Can those who
will be interested in championing these efforts stay behind a bit next
Thursday, after BenjaminGrosof's (Jun-20) session, and talk some.
Would be good if we can take it to a point whereby we can plan the
rest asynchronously; if not, we had discussed the possibility of doing
another planning session on Thu 2013.07.25; kindly take note, and

Now that the OntologySummit is over, we should start planning on how
to best leverage the Ontolog Thursday event slots to do something that
caters to the interests and desires of this community's membership.
Our virtual sessions (and the knowledge we manage to capture out of
those events) have always been a key asset/resource of our community. (025)
There are ongoing initiatives, and there are things we've always
wanted to do. The plan is to lay out the options, and have members of
the community chime in, and decide what events will be featured, and
who will be championing those events. We hope we can have a good
cross-section of the community participating at this session, so we
can properly gauge the interest of the community members. If you want
to influence what gets featured in the upcoming Thursday virtual
session slots, please make sure you come join us at this session. (026)
