Seriously, I just finished a huge amount of work co-authoring a white paper in the realm of the geo-spatial metadata and data requirements domain.   Even for a very narrow domain and using more concrete taxonomic terms, it is massively problematic to map between concepts, terms and referent data.  Hopefully the paper is accepted and can be released and made available to members of this forum.  I found the exercise both difficult yet illuminating.
