For any term X, there are successful things that are labeled with X
and failures that are labeled with X. And the reasons for the
successes or failures usually have nothing to do with X. (02)
The main thing I like about HTML5 is their upward compatibility
with what people have been doing successfully with HTML4 and the
hodge-podge of plug-ins like Flash. Some of the applications look
good, and I wish them well. (03)
As for the word 'semantics', that is one of the most abused terms
in computer technology. Every useful program has syntax, semantics,
and pragmatics. But whenever I see the word 'semantics', I ignore
the hype and look at what they're actually doing. (04)
