That was the spirit in which I asked it - original Zen koan (translated into English) is "If you meet the Buddha on the road, what should you do?"

And then after I posted the question, I though about the topic so much in the news right now (well, the US news anyway), and had some second thoughts myself.

But there was a serious side to the post - how one answers the question reveals something about one's conceptualization of "ontology", like a competency question (and like a Zen koan). Some possible answers

Actually, I apologize if that seems in bad taste; its just consistent with
the practices of modern book titles

- "If you see the Buddha on the road, kill him!"

But with the recent news, that lightly thought through response might not be
appropriate. Therefore, I hope you understood it the way I meant it - in
jest.

P.S. You wrote something up about Rough Sets - do you have a paper I could
see on how you formulated that ontology? Any references would be
appreciated,

If you meet an Ontology, what should you do?

Agreed. Like the Buddha and Pr0n, we will know the Ontology when we meet
it. Restricting the definition in any way at this time is more likely to
slow progress than to focus it.
