Greetings: (09)
If you are receiving this, we are either "linked in" together or you
are otherwise in my electronic rolodex of VIPs. In any event, I'm
assisting in organizing a Second International DESI Workshop on search
and retrieval issues, which will be held in London on Wednesday, June
25, 2008. The workshop, like the one held last year in Palo Alto as
part of ICAIL 2007, aims to bring together lawyers, computer and
information scientists, linguists, and others from a variety of other
disciplines to discuss how legal systems (including this year with a
focus on European legal systems) are coping with search and retrieval
issues when we are faced with mountains of electronic data as potential
evidence. (010)
The link to the workshop can be found at: (011)

I'm really looking forward to what promises to be another academically
serious, all-day multidisciplinary forum on search and retrieval issues.
I also wish to say that Dr. Simon Attfield at the University College of
London has been most gracious in setting up the above web page and in
co-organizing this event, and I know he and I, along with Stephen Mason
and Doug Oard, all look forward to an illuminating and productive follow
up session to last year's workshop. (013)
I do hope you or a colleague might consider doing up a short paper and
joining the workshop in London. Please feel free to forward this
message widely, and to cross-post as appropriate on any listservs known
to you. (014)
One more thing: in abundance of riches fashion, on Thursday and Friday,
June 26-27, 2008, there is also scheduled in London an International
Conference on Digital Evidence, see
http://www.mistieurope.com/default.asp?Page=65&ProductID=8914.
Although the workshop and conference are not formally tied together, I
wanted to let everyone know about the possibility of attending one or
both should you find yourself ensconced in London that week! (015)
Please also feel free to contact me if you have questions. Cheers,
Jason (016)
