We had, on Thursday 5-July-2007, a most stimulating session for
the 9th episode of the Ontolog mini-series on "Database and
Ontology." Dr. Matthew West (Shell International Petroleum
Company) chaired the session with Mr. Chris Partridge (BORO
Centre, UK) as our invited speaker, who presented his talk on
"Data and process revisited: ontology driving a paradigm shift in
the development of business application systems." (01)
Thank you, Mr. Partridge and Dr. West for bringing us this
excellent session that really helps bridge the practical
applications of ontological engineering with the metaphysical
aspects of ontologies. And, as always, our appreciations to all
who could join us yesterday; especially for those who
contribution to the wonderful discussion toward the last segment
of the session. (02)
Proceedings of the session are captured on our wiki page, at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2007_07_05 (03)
In particular, full audio recording of the session, as well as
the podcast of it, is now available - see:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ConferenceCall_2007_07_05#nid120B (04)
... The contribution from Mr. Partridge has added yet another
important piece to the body of knowledge on ontology and
ontological engineering that our community is building together.
Thank you again, everyone! (05)
Best regards. =ppy (06)
P.S. We will be having the last episodes of the latest "Database
And Ontology" trilogy in next Thursday, 12-Jul-2007 with Dr. John
Sowa on "Analogical Reasoning With and About Databases and
Knowledge Bases" (07)
Register your attendance (RSVP to <peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> offline)
if you are planning to come, and haven't already done so. (08)
