Thank you very much, Bo. ... Very interesting, indeed.    (01)

(Can't do the attachment for the open lists, but) The
online version of this "Knowledge management system and
method" patent (US Patent 7,127,440 - Jeanblanc et
al., October 24, 2006) is available at:
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=7,127,440.PN.&OS=PN/7,127,440&RS=PN/7,127,440    (02)

It is well documented. I like the comprehensive lists
of references cited too. In particular,    (03)

  o application US2002/0073080 - " Method and
apparatus for an information server" where the use of
metadata in RDF and various agent processes are used -
see:
http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&d=PG01&p=1&S1=20020073080.PGNR.&OS=DN/20020073080&RS=DN/20020073080    (04)

&    (05)

  o appllication US2002/0138590- " System method and
article of manufacture for creating a virtual
university experience" - see:
http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PG01&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=%2220020138590%22.PGNR.&OS=DN/20020138590&RS=DN/20020138590    (06)

Well, at least someone has pull all the pieces together
and wrote it up very nicely. In my opinion, it would
have been a good book, rather than a patent. I am
surprised, though, that a patent like this could still
be granted in October 2006 (despite that fact that they
applied for it as early as Nov. 2001)! I am almost
certain a few of us here (Bo yourself, at the least;
myself too) have been practising these things for a
long time ... not to mention, Doug Engelbart, who has
evolved these ideas for at least four decades, wrote
about them, and had both research results and
implementations to show us throughout the years.    (07)

Thanks & regards. =ppy
