... (Apologies for cross-posting. =ppy)    (01)

The Panel Discussion on Thu 2008.04.10 around the topic
"Developing an Ontology of Ontologies for OOR" was stunning. Our
four invited expert panelists, again, presented some really fine
research and development work that is being done on the subject
matter, and shared with us their insights. The ensuing discussion
among all participants were, again, extremely useful.    (02)

This concludes our four joint "Open Ontology Repository (OOR)" &
"Ontology Summit 2008" panel discussion sessions which is put
together in anticipation for the 2-day workshop we will be having
at NIST (Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA) on Apr-28 & 29. Judging
from the enthusiasm of the community and the great input we have
been receiving so far, this year's Ontology Summit is promising
to be another very productive one. Therefore, if you have not
registered to participate (either on-site or remotely) yet,
please do so now (ref. details in the postscript below.)    (03)

The proceedings of all four sessions, including the slides,
transcripts of the chat session, the audio archive (available now
in telephone playback, downloadable mp3 and podcast) are all
available now. See:    (04)

A huge "Thank You!" to the panelists and to everyone who
participated at the Apr-10 session, as well as at the three
preceding OOR-Panel sessions. Your contribution have been
captured into our archives, and is now an important part of the
collective body of knowledge on ontology engineering that the
community has been building together.    (08)

Thanks & regards. =ppy    (09)

P.P.S. coming up next Thursday 17-Apr-2008 will be the 6th
episode of the joint NASA-Ontolog-KMWG panel session on Ontology
in Knowledge Management and Decision Support (OKMDS). The topic
to be explored is "Knowledge Mapping for Sensemaking." This will,
again, be featured in parallel at the NASA/JPL Explorer Island in
SecondLife, and as an augmented conference call. Refer to details

*REMINDER*    (016)

The last of the four joint "Open Ontology Repository (OOR)" &
"Ontology Summit 2008" panel discussion sessions is coming up
tomorrow - Thursday, 10-April-2008 - a 2.5-Hour session starting
at 10:30am PDT / 1:30pm EDT / 7:30pm CEST / 17:30 UTC
- [World Clock:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=4&day=10&year=2008&hour=10&min=30&sec=0&p1=224
  ]    (017)

Please refer to details (somewhat updated) below in the earlier
announcement. After the three highly successful OOR-Panel
discussions we had on 2/28, 3/27, 4/3 during which we were able
to bring together world-class experts practitioners and
researchers to share with us their insights toward how a global
Open Ontology Repository being contemplated, the session
(tomorrow) on 10-April-2008 is expected to provide us input
toward the technical basis, through which the key requirements
can be enabled. This will be the last of the virtual panel
discussions before we confer at NIST* on April 28~29, 2008.
Therefore, don't miss this session!    (018)

*RSVP* by e-mailing the sender off-line if you are planning to
attend and haven't already responded. (Make sure you state the
date of the event you are registering for. If you aren't already
an Ontolog member, please provide your affiliation and role as
well, so other participants can readily see who else is at the
session.)    (019)

We look forward to having you at the session. Please refer to all
agenda and call-in details on the session page, whose link
appears at the top of this message.    (020)

Regards.  =ppy    (021)

P.S. *Reminder, once again, that registration for the Apr-28~29
OntologySummit2008 (face-to-face) Workshop at NIST (Gaithersburg,
Maryland, USA) is now open for both (free-of-charge) on-site and
remote participation ... note that on-site pre-registration is
mandatory and the deadline is Mon 2008.04.21; hotel room also
needs to be reserved by Sun 2008.04.13 for participants to enjoy
the conference rate - see:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OntologySummit2008#nid16TF    (022)

P.P.S. Right after the Ontology Summit face-to-face workshop, on
30-April-2008 and at the NIST (Gaithersburg, MD) campus too (also
a part of the NIST Interoperability Week program) will be the
Collaborative Expedition Workshop #72 on "Exploring Identity
Management: Global Landscape and Implications for Stakeholder
Engagement Around the National Response Framework" (ref.
http://ontolog.cim3.net/forum/ontolog-forum/2008-04/msg00005.html
). Various members of the ontology community will be provide
input at that session. Please do register to participate at that
too! Note that participants to both the Summit and the Expedition
Workshop will need to register separately ... please refer to
details at the NIST registration site.

   ******************** Details ************************    (033)

Following our highly successful panel discussion on Thu
28-Feb-2008, where we explored the "Ontology Registry and
Repository Technology & Infrastructure Landscape," we are pleased
to be able to bring together, again, some of the world's top
ontological content custodians and researchers, to feature the
following panel discussion sessions. You are cordially invited to
join us at these three (3) upcoming (virtual) panel sessions.    (034)

Two parallel initiatives are ongoing in the community,
revolving around the theme of "Open Ontology Repository". On the
one hand, a working group under the auspices of the Open Ontology
Repository (OOR) Initiative, and on the other, the discourse (and
essentially a discussion group that will culminate in a two-day
workshop at NIST on April 28~29, 2008) conducted as the main
focus for Ontology Summit 2008. It is at the intersection of
these two initiatives that this panel discussion session is being
held.    (035)

Besides hearing from the panelists, we are setting aside ample
time (~45 minutes) after their briefings, for some good Q&A and
discussions among all who will be participating in this sessions.    (036)

Please also refer to details at the respective project
homepages of the two initiatives at:
   http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OpenOntologyRepository &

refer to session details (including dial-in information, and
speakers' abstracts) at the respective session pages, the links
