Eighty fifth meeting of the IAOA Executive Council (EC)
Virtual Meeting of 22 Aug 2013    (07)

Attendees:
John Bateman
Michael Gruninger (Chair)
Oliver Kutz
Frank Loebe

Leo Obrst
Laure Vieu    (08)

In connection with implementing the funding of student participation in the
Workshop on Modular Ontologies (WoMO 2013), which had been decided earlier,
the EC discussed and agreed on requirements and procedure for assigning and
distributing such funding in general. In particular, student funding
applications are restricted to IAOA members. Event organizers need to
provide the list of recipients and an indication of their allocation scheme
to IAOA, before money is transferred to the organizers for individual
distribution. These regulations will be added to the IAOA funding scheme for
events that is being developed.    (09)

The EC continued investigating options for re-locating IAOA in the midterm,
among other reasons into a country where administration can be handled in
English. In this context there were updates on financial aspects in the U.S.
and Canada, while other countries remain to be examined.    (010)

Work on adaptations of the institutional fee scheme, as enacted in EC
meeting n.80 (May 27, 2013) [1], has progressed. The EC debated on several
variants, resulting in the following proposal for decision in the next
meeting: institutional membership is extended by an option of a (higher)
basic institutional fee that (a) includes 10 individual members without
additional fees and (b) allows for reduced membership rates for further
members of the institution.    (011)

Further regular business covered brief updates on the preparations of the
upcoming EC elections, publicity aspects of FOIS 2014, and the
implementation of the Ontology Summit Hackathon award.    (012)
