To the Subcommittee.
I hope you're All doing fine.
I'll try to rephrase my last request, since I couldn't get direct answers. Maybe the Chairs can help us in this.
1. Do you think we can fairly divide the work among all Subcommittee members, so to get things started?
2. Would it be ok if we set some tentative deadlines?
Thank you for your time and advice,
best, F.

To the Subcommittee:
thank you for your emails.
Do you think it would be possible for the chairs to plan deadlines and work division among team members for the first phase?
Also, would it be possible to get more info on the phases mentioned (Todd's last email)? How many of them are you thinking of? Could you provide us with a tentative schedule?
Grateful for your indications.
Best, F.

Subject: Re: [iaoa-education] Consolidation of issues
Adam, Fabian, Francesca, and all interested members,
Sorry for the delay in responding. So here's a proposed
(form of a) project plan (that extends Adam's consolidation
of issues).
Goal: To promote the use of applied ontology by easing the
burden of understanding core and common concepts
by providing a list of terminology and their interpretations,
based on discipline domain (e.g., philosophy, conceptual
modeling, logic, representation languages, computation, etc.).
And allowing for differences in interpretation (with explanation).
Vetting: The list will be made public after being affirmed by the
IAOA membership.
Scope: Applied Ontology and its contributing or underpinning
disciplines along with related areas (e.g., semantic web,
logic programming, etc.).
Schedule: The terminology/interpretation list will be produced
in phases. The result of each phase will be an extension
of the previous list that has been affirmed by the
IAOA membership.
Organization: The lead editors are the chairs of the terminology
subcommittee.
Discipline Editors/Managers - Each applicable discipline
should provide editorial guidance for those
terms having an interpretation in their
discipline. It should be within their
purview to allow or assign editors to
individual or sets of terms.

Thus, no IAOA member is restricted from participating in the lexicon project.

interested in everything that is going on. Thus, it seems obvious to me that we don't want to have a terminology discussion on the IAOA member list, but on a mailing list whose audience is restricted to people who are likely interested in the subject. So either
the discussion should happen on a designated mailing list for the subcommittee or it should happen on the education committee list.

all EC council members are on the education mailing list; thus, this is also a way to keep the EC in the loop.

OK, unless there are dissenting opinions, I think we can declare that we have decided to continue to use the education committee list.
Unless I am missing it somehow, are there others out there with suggestions about how to proceed? Do we have any specific goals at this point? I will try to add to the proposed list of terms and also see if I can add to definitions.
