Dear Education Committee, (01)
we are collecting information to estimate the figures and prepare the school
budget.
In the meanwhile, we have made some progress about the structure of the school. (02)
Pls, react quickly and, if you do not like something, suggest improvements o
propose an alternative.
In particular, we must be able to contact people quickly.
Ideally, we should send out emails to the lecturers by mid of January. (03)
Our plan is to have an introduction day to help the students to understand the
general domain, and then regular courses for the rest of the week. Below you
can find courses and proposed lecturers. (04)
All this is indicative, so feel free to suggest change of topic/title.
Most importantly, the quality of the lecturers is crucial. We would like the
lecturers to interact with the students and with each other. They should follow
the other courses, be open-minded and ready to pick up from their perspective
issues risen during the week.
The people proposed below are ok (we think) but you might know someone else
that fits better.
Also, we plan to individuate some example or topic and ask lecturers to work
them out from their perspective/domain. This activity will serve as a way to
integrate the different views and approaches.
Of course, the attitude of the lecturers is important here so it would be great
if, when suggesting someone, you have direct experience on how they teach and
how the interact with the audience. (05)
No need to say that we need to keep expenses low. We plan to take advantage of
local experts at least in the area of knowledge representation (see course
"Formalizing ontological knowledge") (06)
Finally, in our mind students should have some knowledge of FOL as prerequisite. (07)
Cheers
Stefano and Claudio (08)
