During the OMG meeting this week, a discussion thread ensued that resulted in what the group believes is clarifying guidance around Semantic Profiles.  While the concept of a Semantic Profile was introduced within HSSP quite some time ago, we had not had the occasion or legwork done until now to drill-down this concept into more detail.

The discussion this week provided some good clarity, we believe, which has been captured into a table that will ultimately find its way into the Service Specification Framework (SSF) methodology.  In the interim, it has been posted as a separate document available at:

Included in the table is a breakout of the attributes that are to be included in a semantic profile, as well as instance examples for HL7 v2.5 and HL7 V3.  The intent is that this same basic structure can be extended to support additional semantic profiles, such as OpenEHR. 

Note that it is the intention of the EIS and RLUS submitters to leverage this concept into their technical submissions, and there appears to be strong interest in supporting this from the emering DSS submitters as well.
