Ms. Kendall founded Sandpiper Software in October 1995 and has over 25 years professional experience in the design, development and deployment of enterprise-scale information management systems for communications, high technology, and aerospace applications. She has been instrumental in bridging emerging technologies from professional software engineering disciplines, such as the Object Management Group (OMG)’s Model Driven Architecture methodology, which provides a basis for automating metadata management, and knowledge representation and reasoning (Semantic Web) technologies.    (ESD)

Ms. Kendall supports key Sandpiper customers in large-scale, complex taxonomy, ontology and knowledge-based systems development. She leads the ontology and policy-based application segment of a DARPA research program under Sparta, and provides ontology development and risk management support for several of Sandpiper’s commercial and US Department of Defense programs. Within the Object Management Group (OMG) community, she is co-editor of the Ontology Definition Metamodel (ODM), co-chair of the Ontology PSIG, and participates in several related standards activities. She is an active participant in the W3C OWL, Semantic Web Deployment, and Rule Interchange Format (RIF) activities at the W3C, with a focus on software and ontology engineering. Ms. Kendall also participates in related ISO metadata standardization efforts, including ISO 11179 (Metadata Registry), 19763 (Model Registration & Management), 24707 (Common Logic), and others through INCITS L8. Recent projects include commercial ontology development for agricultural, chemical engineering, and financial services applications and ontology development for monitoring and management of software in a service-oriented architecture (SOA) framework, in addition to providing training and consulting services to a number of customers and business partners.    (ESE)
