(Mar. 2005) Suzanne Iacono is Program Director in the Systems in Context Cluster in the Division of Information and Intelligent Systems at the National Science Foundation (NSF). She headed up the Information Technology Research (ITR) Program in its last year as an NSF-wide Priority Area, and is currently managing ITR's first Committee of Visitors -- to be held this Spring. She currently serves as the International Coordinator for the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE). She also has interagency duties and serves as co-chair of the Social, Economic and Workforce (SEW) Implications of IT and IT Workforce Development Coordinating Group, which gives policy, program and budget guidance on SEW activities as part of the Networking IT R & D (NITRD), a sub-committee of the National Science and Technology Council. Previously, she held a faculty position at Boston University and was a Visiting Scholar at the Sloan School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Over the years, she has written journal articles, book chapters and conference papers on the social and economic implications of IT, many of them with her friend and mentor, Rob Kling. She worked for many years at the Public Policy Research Organization (PPRO), which was directed by Ken Kraemer, at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Iacono holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Arizona. (JUS)
