Susie Stephens (FF2)
Dr. Susie Stephens is Director of Biomedical Informatics at Johnson and Johnson. Susie Stephens joined Johnson and Johnson in early 2009 as Director of Biomedical Informatics. Her role involves building and leading a group of biomedical informaticists in the creation and deployment of informatics capabilities to support biomarker, translational science, personalized medicine, and health outcome objectives across multiple therapeutic areas. She will translate scientific objectives into biomedical informatics solutions that have tangible impact upon the pipeline. Susie will also participate in alliance and open innovation engagements to accelerate the J&J Pharma IT/Informatics strategy. (1XQ0)
Prior to joining J&J, Susie worked for Eli Lilly where she was a Principal Research Scientist for Open Innovation. Her role involved transitioning discovery informatics from being internally focused to embracing open innovation, thereby enabling a more rapid uptake of new ideas and capabilities. Previously, Susie worked at Oracle where she led the development of the companys core infrastructure product to enhance its capabilities for the life sciences industry. As such, she was heavily involved in providing support for RDF and OWL within the Oracle Database. Prior to joining Oracle, she was a Global Life Sciences Market Segment Manager at Sun Microsystems. Susie was previously chair of the W3C Semantic Web Education and Outreach Interest Group, and now co-chairs the W3C Semantic Web for Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group. She is well known speaker at conferences, has published over 30 industry papers, and is on the advisory board of three companies. Susie has a Ph.D. in physiology. (1XQ1)
