Calendar of Relevant Calls that may be of Professional Interest to the Ontolog Community with Deadlines in 2007 (RAW)
Ontolog members are invited to post relevant calls, requests and solicitations
(like call-for-papers, requests-for-information (RFI), solicitation-for-grant-proposals,
call-for-collaboration-partners, call-for-team-members, ... etc.)
on open events, open competition or other open processes on this page, for the
general interest of our members and the ontology community-at-large.
Ontolog members: please post if you are involved (organizing, presenting) at the event.
Please do not post information on 'member-only' or 'private' calls.
A short entry, in reverse chronological order of the deadline date should be made.
(Please refer to other entries as examples, and keep the format consistent.)
Please make sure you include a link pointing to the event website (where more details can be found)
as well as your name and contact, or a point contact for further information (if that's not you).
The Ontolog co-conveners reserve the right to remove any entry that they deem inappropriate. =ppy/2006.11.03 T (RAX)
Deadline in Q4/2007 (RAZ)
- December 1, 2007 Following the success of last year's competition, and the award of the SUMO prize to Robin Sharp of the Technical University of Denmark, we are announcing the second annual SUMO prize for the best open source ontology extension of SUMO. The SUMO prize is for US$3000.00 will be awarded to the best open source project that extends SUMO. Entries will be due electronically to Adam Pease (apease [at] articulatesoftware [dot] com) by December 1, 2007. Awards will be made December 31, 2007. Entries should be SUO-KIF files that extend SUMO and its domain ontologies, and conform to them. In addition to the logical soundness of the ontology with respect to the SUMO ontologies, entries will be judged on several criteria: (1) Degree of formalization - is the ontology fully specified with rules or just a taxonomy or collection of basic relational statements? (2) Scope and coverage of the ontology - is it just a few terms, or hundreds? (3) Does the ontology cover a coherent new topic or domain? (4) Actual utility of the ontology in an application. Further details are available at <http://www.ontologyportal.org/prize.html> (13M8)
