I am a research engineer with doctorate in Information Technology, research professor at George Mason University's Center of Excellence in C4I, Invited Professor at the Brazilian Air Force's Instituto Tecnol√≥gico da Aeron√°utica (ITA), retired Brazilian Air Force Officer, and former fighter pilot. Background in C3I, electronic warfare, multi-sensor data fusion, probabilistic reasoning, knowledge engineering, and Semantic Web languages. My main area of interest is knowledge representation and reasoning under uncertainty, with a focus on probabilistic ontologies, which I firmly believe will soon become a major requirement towards the realization of the Semantic Web vision.    (SCO)

Currently, I am participating in the development of a GUI and a reasoner for the PR-OWL framework, a probabilistic extension of the OWL Web Ontology Language based on the first-order Bayesian logic MEBN. This project, called UNBBayes-MEBN, is being conducted at the University of Brasilia.    (SCP)
