I am a research engineer with doctorate in Information Technology, research professor at George Mason University's Center of Excellence in C4I, Invited Professor at the Brazilian Air Force's Instituto Tecnológico da Aeronáutica (ITA), retired Brazilian Air Force Officer, and former fighter pilot. Background in C3I, electronic warfare, multi-sensor data fusion, probabilistic reasoning, knowledge engineering, and Semantic Web languages. My main area of interest is knowledge representation and reasoning under uncertainty, with a focus on probabilistic ontologies, which I firmly believe will soon become a major requirement towards the realization of the Semantic Web vision. (SCO)
Currently, I am participating in the development of a GUI and a reasoner for the PR-OWL framework, a probabilistic extension of the OWL Web Ontology Language based on the first-order Bayesian logic MEBN. This project, called UNBBayes-MEBN, is being conducted at the University of Brasilia. (SCP)
