NIST-Ontolog Meeting, July 9, 2004 (A12)
Theme: Advancing the Ontological Engineering Basis in Standards (A13)
Purpose / Description (A14)
Various staff members of NIST has been involved in and contributed to the [ontolog-forum]. It is a wonderful opportunity that these members can have the opportunity to meet face-to-face at the NIST headquarters. Through this meeting, we look forward to building a better rapport among these members, solidify the working relationships, and jointly explore meaningful projects and collaborative opportunities that the participants can be engaged in. (A15)
Date / Venue / Logistics (A16)
- Date / Time: Friday 2004.07.09 afternoon (A17)
- Meeting Co-chair: EvanWallace & BobSmith (A18)
- Venue: NIST - Main Campus, 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20899 (A19)
- Meeting room location: Building 220 Metrology, Room B105 (aka AMSANT) (A1A)
- Directions to NIST: To get from Bethesda (NIH) to Gaithersburg, MD (NIST): Proceed to the west side of NIH and turn right (north) onto Old Georgetown Rd, follow Old Georgetown to I-270 north. From northbound I-270 take Exit 10, Route 117 West, Clopper Road. Bear right at the first light onto Clopper Road / West Diamond Avenue. At next light, turn left onto NIST grounds and keep right when entering gate to pull into parking for acquiring visitor passes. (A1B)
- It is also possible (although more time consuming) to use Metro to get to NIST. Take the Red Line north to Shady Grove. See http://www.nist.gov/public_affairs/maps/nistmaps.html for information about the NIST shuttle from Shady Grove station to the NIST main campus. (A1C)
- Directions to Building 220: After collecting visitor badges, proceed again on Bureau Drive and make an almost immediate left at the stop sign. Follow this road until reaching a three way intersection, turn left at this intersection and continue on this road past the Admin tower and the low Chemistry building. Turn right onto the third drive (marked for bldg 222 and 220) and then left into the parking area in front of Building 220. Proceed into front lobby and if not accompanied by NIST employee, dial x3520 (Evans extension) or x3523 (secretary extension) on the lobby phone. Someone will come and escort you to our meeting room. (A1D)
- Logistics: Visitors to NIST must have a visitors badge. We will try to have badges waiting for everyone on the list of attendees below, but this may require gathering additional personal information offline. Please be responsive to requests for this from NIST staff. (A1E)
- The Protege Conference officially ends at 12:30pm. We assume the ontolog members who are attending that conference will leave together to go to NIST for this meeting. Two cars would probably be enough. We need to ascertain that that's available when we meet at the Protege conference. (A1F)
