- refer to Bob's outline at: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?NhinRfi#nid0224 (9CR)
- Bob start by questioning "what is our objective for today and for this response exercise"? (9CS)
- Adam: we should put forth our best recommendation, and if we cannot conclude, we should methodically come to that best recommendation would be. (9CT)
- Paul: concurs with the general effort to provide recommendation to the government; noting, though, Kevric may not be be in a position (9CU)
- Kurt: potential issue - if one is hired to evaluate a recommendation, one may be inhibited to bid on the same proposal (9CV)
- Adam believes we have no conflict here (because we are not hired) (9CW)
- Peter: for today, we should keep the focus we make sure we have something to deliver by 1/18; and my take on the overall goal is that we should only use this round to put a foot into the door. (9CX)
- Peter: this is an RFI (and not an RFP), and the fact that we are representating an ontological approach, we should only state concepts and not products or labels. (9CY)
- Bob: we can take the opportunity to demonstrate applied ontology to policy argument, such as using ontologies to help analyse inputs to the RHIN-RFI (9CZ)
- Adam: we should be proposing the use of ontologies for the information exchange, and not ontologies as applied to helping policy decisions (9D0)
- Bob: that evidently divides the approach between the hard technical applications (of formal ontologies) and the softer social, policy type applications (of semi-formal and informal ontologies). (9D1)
- options on the wording of the NHIN-RFI thesis reviewed: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?NhinRfiThesis#nid040 (9D2)
- a ballot: (9D3)
- for option-1: AdamPease, (9D4)
- for option-2: PeterYim, BrandNiemann, BobSmith (9D5)
- abstain: PaulKoch, KurtConrad (9D6)
- therefore, option-2 is adopted. (9D7)
- 2 more additions were also adopted: see: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?NhinRfiThesis#nid086 (9D8)
- a ballot: (9D3)
- the meeting agreed that the ontolog response will be a parallel and friendly effort which WorldVistA may also put forth as a response to the NHIN-RFI (9D9)
- Chris: make sure we have clinical expertise on hand, otherwise our recommendations will not be credible. (9DA)
- Brand: (9DC)
- compliments to this effort, especially the CoP aspect. (9DD)
- recommending a Harvard study on CoP for Government. See: Government Communities of Practice: A New Tool for Government Managers from the Center for the Business of Government. (9DE)
