Marcia Lei Zeng is Professor of Library and Information Science at Kent State University. She has been involved in the development, teaching, and research of knowledge organization systems (including taxonomy, thesaurus, ontology, etc) for over 20 years. She was a member of the Advisory Group for NISO Z39.19 for monolingual controlled vocabularies and Working Group member of ISO 25964 Structured Vocabularies for Information Retrieval.    (1D7G)

Her major research interests include knowledge organization systems (taxonomy, thesaurus, ontology, etc), metadata and markup languages, Linked Data, database quality control, multilingual and multi-culture information processing, and digital libraries for cultural objects and learning objects. Her scholarly publications include over 60 papers and three books, as well as many national and international conference presentations. She was invited to give lectures and workshops at various countries. She was the P.I. and Co-P.I. of two National Science Foundation's (NSF) National Science Digital Library (NSDL) projects.    (19I2)

She has served on standards committees and working groups for International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), Special Libraries Association (SLA), Association of Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), and National Information Standards Organization (NISO). She chaired IFLA Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Records (FRSAR) Working Group. She was an Invited Expert on the W3C Library Linked Data Incubator Group, a member of the EU ISA Program¬ís Asset Description Metadata Schema (ADMS) Working Group, and Director-at-large ASIS&T. She currently serves on the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) inaugural Advisory Board Chair.    (19I3)
