Mr. Bauman is the technical lead of the Enterprise Data Modeling Team at a U.S. Department of Defense agency. For the past 12 years he and his team have been helping internal customers develop physical XML schemata using model driven approaches that start with ERD and UML models. Recently in response to limitations in these techniques and an increasing need to develop schemata in a variety of languages (e.g. SQL / DDL, XML Schema, Google Protocol Buffers, RDFS) Mr. Bauman has adopted ontological approaches to create semantically rich, implementation neutral models. Using custom developed techniques and software these models are compiled into a target schema language. These techniques have been used successfully for two years to deliver physical schema to internal projects. Mr. Bauman has a MS in computer science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. (34RQ)
