Anett Hoppe holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a M.Sc. in Data and Knowledge Engineering, both pursued at the University of Magdeburg, Germany. Since October 2012, she works on her PhD in the CheckSem Research Team, Laboratoire Electronique, Informatique et Images, Université de Bourgogne, France.    (4BD4)

The PhD project centers around the development of a fully ontology-based user profiling system that evaluates user's web navigation histories to deduce complex usage patterns, interests and preferences. The evaluation is based on the basic information contained in the usage logs, such as time stamps and user agent, and the semantic analysis of the consulted web resources. It is in the nature of the web contents, that they are highly heterogeneous and, given that the data sources are some of the most active news pages in France, voluminous.    (4BD5)

Open problems concern the comparison of the diverse data structures to determine their similarity and how to do so in an efficient way. Furthermore, how to model the attached uncertainty of class affiliations and how to use it in the final deduction of the user profile.    (4BD6)
