Dear All,    (01)

I am writing to let everyone know that the full proceedings of last
week's talk by Torsten Hahmann on "A Reconciliation of Ontologies of
Abstract Space: From Mereotopologies to Geometries" is now available
online. This includes the abstract, slides, full audio recording of
the session and the in-session transcript.    (02)

You may find that under the "Archives" heading on the session page at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OOR/ConferenceCall_2012_06_19    (03)

A huge THANK YOU to Torsten Hahmann for his wonderful work, and for
sharing it with us ... and to Gary Berg-Cross and Michael Gruninger,
for organizing the event. Appreciations, too, should go to all who
were able to join us and contributed to the discussion last week.    (04)

Best regards. =ppy    (05)

p..s ... also, as a reminder, the OOR Content workshop-III is coming
up tomorrow - Wed 2102.06.26 - 1.5-Hr session starting 8:30am PDT /
11:30am EDT / 5:30pm CEST / 15:30 UTC. Details at:
http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OOR/ConferenceCall_2012_06_26
... Anyone who has ontologies to share, or would want to re-use other
people's ontologies, should consider coming to this session. ... RSVP
now, if you haven't already!

Dear Colleagues,    (09)

Come and join us at the upcoming Joint SOCoP & OOR session next
Tuesday (Jun-19). Gary Berg-Cross (SOCoP) and Michael Gruninger
(University of Toronto; OOR) have co-organized a virtual session,
where Torsten Hahmann, Gruninger's student, will present his PhD
research work. Torsten's presentation is entitled: "A Reconciliation
of Ontologies of Abstract Space: From Mereotopologies to Geometries."    (010)

 ... RSVP now!    (011)

Title: "A Reconciliation of Ontologies of Abstract Space: From
Mereotopologies to Geometries"    (013)

Abstract: This work focuses on bridging the gap between very weak
ontologies of abstract space (in particular those relying only on
topological and mereological relations) and more traditional
geometries.    (014)

As basis we developed a general mereotopology based on spatial
containment and relative dimension that is dimension-independent,
i.e., in which points, curves, areas, etc. can coexist. By
successively adding additional primitive relations (boundary
containment, betweenness, and convex hulls) and ontological
assumptions we construct a hierarchies of spatial ontologies. We
locate existing spatial ontologies ranging from mereotopologies to
various geometries in these hierarchies, thereby establishing the
relationships amongst them. As more and more ontologies of abstract
space are included, we refine our understanding of their shared and
differing ontological assumptions as well as their necessary primitive
relations. All theories are axiomatized in Common Logic, formally
verified with the help of automated tools, and will be made available
as part of COLORE. The hierarchies can be used as basis for the
integration of diverse spatial ontologies from geography, engineering,
architecture, and other fields.    (015)

This will be a 1.5-hour virtual session starting at: 8:30am PDT /
11:30pm EDT / 5:30pm CEST / 4:30pm BST / 15:30 UTC ... RSVP now!    (016)

*Register your attendance* by emailing <peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> off-line
or register yourself directly to the wiki session page (if you are
already a part of the community). Please include your affiliation and
specify the date of the session(s) when you are writing in to register
and specify date/title of the session you plan to attend.    (017)

Please refer to details on the session page

********************* Details ************************    (019)

These sessions, like all Ontolog virtual events, are open and free of
charge. Anyone who is interested, or (better still) who may have
something to contribute, is welcome. Please refer to event details on
the session pages, to which the hyperlink is given above, where you
will find session agenda, conference call dial-in, slides and other
pertinent information. Feel free to pass this invitation along to
colleagues who may also find these sessions to be of interest.    (020)

*RSVP* by emailing Peter Yim at <peter.yim@xxxxxxxx> offline (or add
yourself directly to the session page if you are already an Ontolog or
Ontology Summit community member) so that we can prepare enough
resources to support everyone. [Please state clearly the date of the
session you are registering for in your email.]    (021)

These sessions will be recorded and made available in a publicly
accessible archive. Therefore, before participating, please make sure
you are cognizant of our IPR policy (ref:
