In lieu of the May 23 Collaborative Expedition workshop, an open forum on Service-Oriented Architecture will be held at MITRE on May 23-24.  This forum serves to open strategic dialogue around the potentials and realities of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).  SOA is characterized by communities working together to forge agreements, in light of mutually understood commonalities and differences, in order to advance business value, agility, and technology diversity.  All details are below:

1. The deadline for registration is May 17th. See http://www.mitre.org/register/soa/
2. The agenda has been finalized. See http://colab.cim3.net/file/work/SOACoP/SOAforEGov05232006.doc
3. A briefing for the Architecture & Infrastructure and Best Practices Committees on May 16th and May 15th, respectively, has been prepared. See http://colab.cim3.net/file/work/SOACoP/SOAEGOV05152006.ppt
4. Work on the SOA Demo Spec is progressing. See http://colab.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?SoaDemoSpec  and more are invited to join.
5. The IAC SOA Readiness Assessment Survey is being finalized for release at this conference during the Panel Session. See http://colab.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?SOAReadinessAssessment
6. Contact: Brand Niemann, SICoP, Chair & SOA CoP, Interim Co-Chair, http://web-services.gov/soacop
