UN/CEFACT, one of the parent organizations of ebXML,
is developing a formal business ontology based on
Professor William McCarthy's REA (Resource, Event
and Agent) ontology.    (04)

REA has been developed for more than 20 years.
It's been peer-reviewed in leading accounting
and technical journals many times, incorporated
into text books, and used by several software
companies. It is also being incorporated into
ISO Open-EDI, and has been adopted by
ECIMF, the European E-Commerce Integration
Meta-Framework. It's also used in the ebXML
and UN/CEFACT Catalog of Common Business
Processes as part of their classification scheme.    (05)

Watch out for word wrap on the long URLs.    (07)

Good luck,
