*REMINDER* (04)
The 7th event of the joint NASA-Ontolog-KMWG "Ontology in Knowledge
Management and Decision Support (OKMDS)" mini-series is coming up
tomorrow - Thursday, 8-May-2008 (starting at 10:30am PDT / 1:30pm EDT
/ 17:30 UTC). (05)
Presenting at this episode of the OKMDS mini-series will be Professor
Yochai Benkler (Harvard), with Ms. Susan Turnbull (GSA) chairing the
session. (06)
This virtual event will be offered in our normal 'real world'
augmented conference call settings, and also (simultaneously) at the
NASA/JPL Explorer Island in the "Second Life" 'virtual world'
settings. [... The latter is for those who are familiar with, or who
would want to explore the possibilities of virtual world events. (I've
been asked by quite a few, and would like to explain here, that ...)
An attendee will be able to attend the session remotely just by having
phone and Internet access. Slides and audio recording of the session
will be made available after the event too. ] (07)
Join us at tomorrow's session to hear Professor Yochai Benkler, the
renowned authority in Networked Information Economy, who will talk
about the relationship between cooperation, loosely coupled systems,
innovation as learning, and how we begin to approach the question of
how to design systems for human cooperation based on more
sophisticated models than those offered by the standard rational actor
model. (08)
The talk will touch on subjects like: How do we understand the
dynamics of human cooperation through work in many disciplines, from
experimental economics, evolutionary biology, and computer science, to
organizational sociology and anthropology? How can we synthesize this
body of work into an approach to designing human systems: be they
technical platforms, business processes, or law. (09)
*RSVP* by e-mailing the sender off-line (if you aren't already a
[kmgov] or Ontolog member, kindly include your name, affiliation and
job title as well) if you are planning to attend and haven't already
responded. (010)
We look forward to having you at the session. Please refer to all
agenda and call-in details on the session page, whose link appears
below ,as well as at the top of this message.
