Seventy fourth meeting of the IAOA Executive Council (EC) Virtual Meeting
of 25 Feb. 2013 (09)
Attendees:
John Bateman
Stefano Borgo
Michael Gruninger (President)
Oliver Kutz
Frank Loebe
Leo Obrst
Laure Vieu (010)
The EC discussed the necessity of electing some EC members in 2013 (for the
period 2014-2015) due to the transitory Article 31 of the IAOA Statute.
Further, general annual elections were considered (applicable to ca. half of
the EC members each year), and the possibility to combine the EC election with
the vote on the IAOA budget. The latter solution seems unrealistic since the
budget must be approved by April, which is too early for the EC election,
especially in years where FOIS takes place. The issue will be continued at the
next EC meeting. (011)
Laure Vieu, as FOIS General Chair, reported on the status of FOIS 2014
organization. The organizers are looking for a suitable publicity chair (for
international scope). There will also be a student consortium during FOIS. For
FOIS conferences in general, the EC decided to be involved in selecting the
General Chair(s), Program Chair(s) and Local Chair(s), whereas thereafter FOIS
conference organizers are in charge of appointing further people as needed. (012)
The Summer Institute 2013 has already a set of funding sources from Vespucci.
The IAOA will propose an amount to fund the initiative but needs to look at
IAOA budget figures. (013)
The EC looked at the set of activities for 2013 and decided to involve SIG and
Technical Committee chairs for an overview and for possible
coordinations. The SIG and Committee chairs will be invited to the next three
EC meetings (Mar 11, Mar 25, Apr 8) for short presentations, i.e., chairs for
two SIGs/Committees per meeting. These sections of the EC meetings will be open
to IAOA members to facilitate participation and publicity of SIG's activities.
People interested in joining the SIGs and Technical Committees as well as all
of their current members are particularly welcome to participate. Information
will be distributed. (014)
(End of Report) (015)
